As a Lab Patient Technician, your primary responsibility will be to manage the specimen collection process, ensuring a seamless experience for patients from the moment they arrive until their specimens are prepared for transport. This vital role directly impacts patient care and offers a rewarding opportunity to make a significant difference in their lives. This position is part-time and ideal for individuals with flexible schedules, with the potential to take on additional shifts at various locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients and gather necessary information, clearly explaining the specimen collection process while ensuring adherence to required test protocols.
- Conduct phlebotomies, connect and disconnect Holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
- Carry out specialized test collections, including medical/legal drug screenings, paternity tests, and clinical trials, while completing all relevant documentation.
- Maintain strong client relationships by addressing inquiries and following up on requests.
- Accurately enter patient demographics, requisition details, and other essential information related to test result processing.
- Prepare specimens for transportation and subsequent testing.
The ideal candidate will excel in providing outstanding customer service, demonstrating empathy and the ability to connect with patients even in challenging situations. Essential qualities include:
- Graduation from an accredited Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
- Experience in phlebotomy.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.
