We are currently seeking a dedicated Patient Care Technician to join our team in Mississauga, ON.
Your RoleAs a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory by managing the specimen collection process from start to finish. This includes greeting patients, explaining procedures, collecting specimens, and preparing them for transportation.
Responsibilities- Greet patients, gather necessary information, explain the specimen collection process, and ensure they have followed proper test protocols before collection.
- Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
- Conduct special test collections, such as medical/legal drug screens, paternity tests, and clinical trials, while completing all related documentation.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients by responding to inquiries and following up on requests.
- Accurately enter patient demographics, requisition information, and other relevant data into our systems.
- Prepare specimens for transportation and testing according to established procedures.
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated individual with excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to patient care.
- Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
- Proven phlebotomy experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
- Ability to maintain the strictest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.
