We are currently seeking a Laboratory Patient Care Technician to become an integral part of our operations.
As a Laboratory Patient Care Technician, your primary responsibility will involve the specimen collection process, which includes welcoming patients and preparing specimens for transportation. This pivotal role in patient care allows you to witness the positive impact you have on patients' lives. This position is part-time regular and is ideal for individuals with flexible schedules, with opportunities to take on additional shifts at various LifeLabs locations.
The ideal candidate must be available to work on weekends.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming patients, gathering necessary information, explaining the specimen collection process, and ensuring compliance with required test protocols prior to collection.
- Conducting phlebotomies, connecting and disconnecting Holter monitors, and performing ECG tracings.
- Executing specialized test collections, such as medical/legal drug screenings, paternity tests, and clinical trials, while completing all relevant documentation.
- Maintaining client relationships by addressing inquiries and following up on requests.
- Entering required patient demographics, requisition details, and other pertinent information related to processing test results.
- Preparing specimens for transport and analysis.
The right candidate will prioritize exceptional customer and patient service, demonstrating the ability to connect with patients and clients even in challenging situations. Key attributes include: empathy, flexibility, adaptability to change, and strong problem-solving skills. Additional qualifications include:
- Graduation from an accredited Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
- Experience in phlebotomy.
- Outstanding communication abilities.
- Proficient computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.

Compensation Range:
The compensation range has been established, but the final salary will be determined based on experience, educational background, external market conditions, and internal equity.
