Pediatric Emergency Medicine Division Director

British Columbia Children's Hospital (BCCH) is seeking a highly skilled Medical Director to lead the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. As a key member of the Department of Pediatrics, the successful candidate will be responsible for the operational functionality of the Division, ensuring quality of medical practice, and promoting evidence-based practices within the Emergency Department.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, working closely with the Division Head and Department Head of Pediatrics
- Ensure effective mechanisms are in place to facilitate best practice and quality of medical care
- Collaborate with the Emergency Department Nursing leadership team and other Divisions in the hospital
- Communicate operational changes with Divisional members and chair various leadership committees
- Work closely with the Nurse Practitioner group and support clinical and health services research
The BCCH Emergency Department serves almost 49,000 children per year, providing an outstanding environment for clinical research and teaching of learners from multiple healthcare disciplines. The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine is a dynamic team of subspecialists in Pediatric Emergency Medicine, working together to provide exceptional care to children and youth.
Requirements:- Completed subspecialty residency-training program in Pediatric Emergency Medicine accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
- Eligible for recognition as a PEM subspecialist by RCPSC
- Minimum of five years of PEM clinical experience
- Previous leadership experience an asset
