Housekeeping Manager

The Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre, Edmonton South, Alberta, managed by Hotel Equities, is seeking a distinguished Housekeeping Manager to oversee our housekeeping operations. Position Overview:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Housekeeping Manager is responsible for the effective supervision of housekeeping staff and ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness throughout the property.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the housekeeping team to ensure efficient cleaning of guest accommodations.
  • Verify that all rooms are cleaned to standard by reviewing housekeeping logs at the end of each shift.
  • Manage urgent requests for room changes and coordinate cleaning priorities.
  • Conduct inspections of all guest rooms post-cleaning to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of room statuses and communicate with the front desk as necessary.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of cleaned rooms through regular inspections.
  • Prepare maintenance requests for any necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Stay updated on room statuses and inform staff of any changes promptly.
  • Ensure VIP and early morning rooms are prioritized and checked accordingly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of linen closets and supply areas.
  • Ensure all cleaning equipment is stored properly and maintained.
  • Participate in the quarterly inventory of linens and supplies.
  • Uphold safety protocols by ensuring linen chutes are secured at all times.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including front desk and engineering, to enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Strive to exceed guest expectations at every opportunity.
  • Ensure all guests receive courteous and efficient service in line with company standards.
  • Assist in training and guiding new team members.
  • Ensure compliance with all housekeeping quality standards and policies.
  • Facilitate communication with other hotel departments to improve service delivery.
  • Assist in managing room inventory to optimize revenue while maintaining high guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with company standards.
  • Regular attendance is crucial for the successful execution of this role, with flexibility required for varying schedules.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures for the safe operation of hotel facilities.

Safety & Security:

  • Stay vigilant for any unauthorized individuals on the premises.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance and safeguard confidential information.
  • Manage lost and found items appropriately.
  • Ensure proper handling and accountability of keys.
  • Follow bloodborne pathogen procedures diligently.
  • Be knowledgeable about emergency procedures and security protocols.
  • Protect guest privacy regarding room numbers and access policies.

Physical Requirements:

  • Most tasks are performed indoors in a controlled environment.
  • Prolonged periods of walking and standing are required.
  • Must be able to navigate the hotel efficiently.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs regularly and push/pull heavier equipment as needed.
  • Engage in various physical activities including bending, stooping, and stretching.
  • Effective communication skills are essential for interaction with guests and staff.
  • Visual acuity is necessary for inspecting rooms and ensuring cleanliness.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • At least three years of housekeeping experience, with a minimum of one year in a supervisory role.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Previous experience in the hospitality sector is desirable.
