About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Health and Wellness Care Specialist to join our team at Verve Senior Living. As a key member of our care team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality care and support to residents, including cognitive, social, and emotional support, according to their individual care plans.
  • Collaborate with the care team to provide feedback on care plans and ensure residents' physical, emotional, social, and safety needs are met.
  • Support residents' optimal level of functioning in their activities of daily living while respecting their rights and choices.
  • Perform care procedures in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Observe and report/document changes in residents' physical and emotional condition, and monitor vital signs.
  • Complete documentation accurately and legibly according to policies and procedures.
  • Assist in monitoring specific interventions regularly and offer information or suggestions for improvement.
  • Provide ongoing support to co-workers and act as an advocate for residents and families to ensure residents' rights are protected.
  • Utilize equipment and supplies effectively and in accordance with policies and procedures, manufacturer's instructions, and health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure residents' living space and personal belongings are kept clean, free from safety hazards, and organized according to residents' personal choice.
  • Assist with other duties to ensure the smooth functioning of the residence, including housekeeping and laundry duties, maintains adequate stock of supplies, as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of grade 12 education required.
  • Has obtained certificate from an approved Health Care Aide program, and a current Alberta Health Care Aide directory registration.
  • Completion of medication Assistance Program certificate (MAP).
  • Certified in Emergency First Aid and CPR required.
  • Previous experience as a Health Care Attendant working with seniors is considered an asset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, in the English language.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet resident care needs, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Dependable, responsible, and an ability to work well with others in a team environment and independently.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence.
  • A resident-oriented individual, whose visions and values align with those of the residence.
