Position Overview:
A full-time role is available for a Psychiatrist within our inpatient Assessment and Stabilization & Comprehensive Psychiatric Care units. This position focuses on delivering evidence-based treatments and achieving superior outcomes for patients in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee clinical psychiatric care for assigned patients, including admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, daily care, and discharge processes.
  • Manage psychiatric disorders and medication, coordinating with the Interventional Psychiatry Service when necessary.
  • Conduct daily rounds and individual assessments to maintain high standards of patient care.
  • Work alongside an interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient support and care.
  • Document patient histories, treatment plans, and progress notes to maintain comprehensive medical records.
  • Utilize electronic medical platforms for patient management.
  • Provide clinical guidance for timely referrals and admissions.
  • Ensure adherence to best practice standards in clinical care.
  • Support colleagues during physician absences.
  • Complete and submit billing in a timely manner.
  • Ability to administer ECT treatment is a valued asset.
  • Coordinate with third-party referrers for continuity of care.

Qualifications:
  • Specialist certification in Psychiatry from a recognized body and in good standing with the relevant regulatory authority.
  • Experience in managing complex psychiatric disorders and comorbid conditions is preferred.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and teaching to enhance patient care.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with patients and colleagues.
  • Proven critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational and time-management capabilities.
  • Commitment to infection prevention and control standards.
  • Familiarity with Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is an asset.
