The Environmental Group at Morrison Hershfield is committed to preventing, minimizing, and mitigating adverse environmental impacts associated with projects, contributing to a sustainable future for current and future generations. Our expertise encompasses environmental planning and management, environmental assessments, natural sciences, regulatory approvals, impact studies, monitoring, solid waste management, transit planning, renewable energy, hydrogeology, and environmental site assessments.

We possess extensive experience in providing advisory, design, construction oversight, and environmental planning services for transit and transportation infrastructure, boasting a 40+ year track record of successfully delivering a wide range of projects for clients throughout Canada. Our firm also has a significant AFP/P3 presence across the country, serving in roles that include Owner's Engineer, Technical Advisory Services, and Design Services for builders.

We are currently seeking an Environmental Assessment Lead to enhance our Canadian environmental team, based in our Vancouver office. This role presents significant growth potential due to expanding business opportunities within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to support various projects
  • Oversee the environmental assessments of projects
  • Manage permitting processes for those projects
  • Lead consultations with regulatory agencies
  • Review and evaluate technical reports
  • Direct and support proposal preparation efforts
  • Guide internal technical team members and subject matter experts in a collaborative environment

Qualifications:

  • A university degree in Environmental Studies, Biology, Engineering, or a related field
  • A minimum of 10 years of directly relevant experience
  • Prior experience in assessing environmental impacts on renewable power projects
  • Strong knowledge of provincial, territorial, and federal environmental assessment legislation
  • Comprehensive understanding of provincial, territorial, and federal power project permitting requirements
  • In-depth knowledge of BC's Environmental Assessment Act
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to prepare detailed reports and plans
  • Familiarity with sustainability and climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies
  • A valid Driver's License is considered an asset
