Environmental Services Director

Southbridge Care Homes is seeking an experienced Environmental Services Manager to join their team at their long-term care home in Port Perry, ON.
Job Summary:The Environmental Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of the facility, ensuring a safe and clean environment for residents and staff. This role involves managing the housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance departments to achieve high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
Key Responsibilities:- Facility Maintenance: Observe and monitor all areas of the facility for ongoing general maintenance and servicing requirements, and carry out repairs as needed.
- Preventative Maintenance: Document and implement preventative maintenance programs to ensure the facility's equipment and systems are functioning properly.
- Mechanical Maintenance: Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs to equipment, as well as mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Contractor Management: Refer problems requiring specialized work to outside contractors, monitor their work, and obtain approval for such work.
- Other Responsibilities: Perform other jobs around the facility as needed to maintain the home's upkeep, including groundskeeping.
- Staff Management: Support the Executive Director in hiring and performance management of departmental staff, including staff development and training.
- Contractor Supervision: Supervise contractors' work to ensure fulfillment of contractual obligations.
- Budget Management: Prepare and manage departmental budgets, including inventory management and control.
- Leadership Team Participation: Participate in leadership team activities and responsibilities, including participation on teams and committees, and reporting.
- Quality and Quantity Management: Manage all aspects of management of quality and quantity of services and products provided and produced by departmental staff.
- Safety Program: Knowledge and application of departmental safety program as part of daily duties.
- Record Keeping: Maintain records, statistics, and reports in accordance with home policies, and all applicable legislation and standards.
- Education: Two-year post-secondary diploma or degree in Environmental Services/Building Services Management or related field.
- Knowledge and Experience: Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, and heating and ventilation systems. Experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
- Assets: Formal training in building maintenance, health and safety certification, knowledge of evidence-based practices, and experience in a maintenance role within a resident or guest building with a long-term care setting.
- Language Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in both English and French.
- Physical Demands: Ability to meet physical and safety requirements of the job, including standing for long periods, bending, lifting, etc.
