We are currently seeking a Manager of Environmental Services to oversee our long-term care home operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring a safe and clean environment for both residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify maintenance needs and perform necessary repairs.
- Implement and manage preventative maintenance programs to ensure optimal facility operations.
- Oversee mechanical maintenance, including plumbing and electrical systems, ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
- Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
- Assist with general upkeep of the facility, including grounds maintenance.
- Support the Executive Director in the recruitment and performance evaluation of departmental staff.
- Supervise contractor activities to ensure adherence to service agreements.
- Prepare and manage departmental budgets, including inventory oversight and procurement of supplies.
- Engage in leadership team initiatives, contributing to committees and reporting activities.
- Ensure quality control of services and products delivered by departmental staff.
- Implement safety protocols as part of daily operations.
- Maintain accurate records and reports in line with organizational policies and regulations.
- Two-year post-secondary diploma or degree in Environmental Services or a related field.
- Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Formal training in building maintenance is advantageous.
- Health and safety certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with best practices in housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance.
- Experience in a maintenance capacity within a long-term care environment is preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English and French is preferred.
- Must be able to complete a vulnerable sector check.
- Willingness to work day shifts with on-call responsibilities.
- Physical capability to meet job demands, including standing, bending, and lifting.
