We are currently seeking an Environmental Services Manager to oversee our long-term care home operations in Port Perry, ON.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance Oversight: Regularly inspect and assess all areas of the facility to identify and address maintenance needs, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for residents and staff.
- Preventative Maintenance: Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance programs to prolong the lifespan of our facilities.
- Mechanical Repairs: Conduct repairs and maintenance on mechanical systems, plumbing, and electrical setups.
- Contractor Management: Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
- Facility Upkeep: Perform various tasks to maintain the property, including groundskeeping and adherence to safety protocols.
Management Duties:
- Staff Development: Assist the Executive Director in recruiting and managing departmental personnel, including training and performance evaluations.
- Budget Management: Prepare and oversee departmental budgets, ensuring effective inventory control and procurement of necessary supplies.
- Leadership Participation: Engage actively in leadership team initiatives, contributing to committees and reporting activities.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and efficiency of services provided by departmental staff, maintaining high standards.
- Safety Compliance: Uphold safety standards and maintain accurate records and reports in line with home policies and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Environmental Services or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Formal training in building maintenance is advantageous.
- Health and safety certification is preferred.
- Familiarity with best practices in housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance.
- Experience in a maintenance capacity within a long-term care environment is preferred.
- Proficiency in managing human and financial resources is an asset.
- Effective communication skills in English and French are preferred.
- Ability to pass a vulnerable sector check.
- Willingness to work day shifts with on-call responsibilities.
- Capability to meet the physical demands of the role.
