About the Role

The Budget Analyst is a key member of the Simon Fraser University Finance team, responsible for designing and developing sound budgetary processes across the university. This role involves monitoring and projecting financial activities, developing reports to highlight issues and increase transparency, and providing budget support to various departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain accurate financial models and forecasts to support budgeting and planning
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to senior management and department heads
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address financial issues and opportunities
  • Develop and implement budgeting best practices and procedures
  • Stay up-to-date on financial issues and business changes in the portfolios

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Commerce with a professional accounting designation (e.g. CPA) and five years of related experience in budgeting
  • Strong analytical skills for budget analysis and forecast
  • Effective communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
