About the BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB)

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government responsible for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province. The LDB operates the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis, as well as the retail brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.

The LDB is committed to improving services and ensuring a sustainable province for future generations. The revenue generated by the LDB helps fund essential public services like health care, education, and community programming.

About the Finance Division

The Finance division provides financial services to all LDB departments, including financial reporting, advisory services, budgeting, capital asset reporting, and financial transactional processing. The division is responsible for the LDB's enterprise risk management program and oversees regulatory compliance for BC liquor manufacturers/warehouses.

Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst

The Senior Financial Analyst provides financial advice, guidance, and recommendations to support Wholesale division operations. The role involves leading the budget development process, developing and implementing performance reporting methods, and contributing to sales forecasting. The Senior Financial Analyst works in a team environment to ensure that Wholesale division managers have the information they need to achieve operational targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial advice and guidance to support Wholesale division operations
  • Lead the budget development process for the division
  • Develop and implement performance reporting methods
  • Contribute to sales forecasting
  • Work in a team environment to ensure that Wholesale division managers have the information they need to achieve operational targets

Requirements:

  • Must hold a Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA) and be a member in good standing
  • A minimum of 3 years of recent, related experience
  • Recent, related experience must have occurred within the last 7 years and must include providing budgeting and reporting services, e.g., preparing business cases, developing budgets, forecasting, performance reports, and variance analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Providing financial advice, e.g., providing analysis, evaluation, and recommendations on KPIs, process improvement initiatives, and decision support for business units' operations
  • Experience with financial analysis tools (e.g., Excel, business intelligence tools, reports designers, data visualization), and experience building financial models, dashboards, and reports
  • Experience in the beverage alcohol industry, supply chain/logistics, or wholesale/retail distribution environment
  • Experience analyzing business performance in complex business environments, e.g., operating with large amounts of data, multiple product lines, business units, cost centers, ERP systems, and applications
