Position Overview
The Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Lethbridge is seeking applications for a postdoctoral research fellowship associated with a CIHR-funded initiative known as the Patient Oriented Innovative Nutrition Trial (POINT). The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in the formulation of an innovative clinical trial (iCT) aimed at assessing the comparative effectiveness of a multinutrient intervention for children and adolescents diagnosed with Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The postdoctoral fellow will collaborate with patients, healthcare professionals, and decision-makers to prioritize the outcomes of the study.Research Project Synopsis The postdoctoral fellow (PDF) will contribute to the POINT study by designing an iCT to evaluate the comparative effectiveness of multinutrients versus stimulant medications, or in conjunction with dietary adjustments and/or behavioral therapies for children and youth with ADHD. The objectives of the POINT study include: 1) assembling a cross-disciplinary team that encompasses diverse stakeholders and establishing terms of reference for an advisory group of knowledge users; and 2) crafting a patient-oriented iCT study that aligns with the priorities and clinically relevant outcomes identified by stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities Under the guidance of Dr. Brenda Leung, the incumbent will be responsible for leading the research activities of the project, which include but are not limited to the following core duties: Facilitate communication and collaboration among the team, Advisory Group, and other stakeholders, and organize regular meetings, webinars, retreats, and engagement events; Assist in the development of surveys/interviews and recruitment materials; Conduct primary and secondary data collection, including interviews where appropriate; Engage in statistical analyses such as mediator/moderator analyses of sample characteristics to determine sample criteria for stratified adaptive design; utilize statistical simulations to explore comparisons among multiple arms: e.g., multinutrients versus stimulant medications, or in conjunction with dietary modifications and/or behavioral therapies. Contribute to the design of the iCT, considering multi-arm multi-stage, adaptive dose-ranging, group-sequential (early termination), or population enrichment methodologies; Participate in knowledge translation activities, including presenting research findings at international conferences and other events; preparing research for publication in leading international journals; and adapting research for diverse audiences; Oversee social media, newsletters, and outreach initiatives; Undertake additional activities as required.Qualifications and Skills The ideal candidate will possess a PhD in epidemiology, health sciences, or a related health discipline obtained within the last five years. Training in strategic patient-oriented research (SPOR) is essential. The candidate should demonstrate meaningful engagement with patients who have lived experience and knowledge users, integrating principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), including considerations for marginalized groups. A strong foundation in research knowledge, skills, and attitudes is required, along with a genuine interest in the subject matter concerning children/youth and ADHD, as well as clinical research. The preferred background includes experience in mixed methods research, encompassing biostatistical testing (related to mediator/moderator analysis, multiple arms comparison, and similar methodologies) and qualitative techniques (such as qualitative interviewing and analysis). Familiarity with innovative clinical trial design is an asset.

Compensation and Duration The postdoctoral fellow will receive a salary ranging from 60K to 65K per annum, depending on experience, with an initial duration of one year and the possibility of extension.
