About the Position:The postdoctoral researcher will conduct and lead mass balance studies related to the supplementation of plant-based proteins in fish diets under aquaponics growing conditions. This position is part of a larger research team at Lethbridge College's Aquaculture Centre of Excellence, working on cutting-edge experiments utilizing automated micro-aquaponics systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Plan and execute experiments, collect and analyze data, troubleshoot, and plan further works: 70%
- Prepare and submit manuscripts for publication, presentations to internal as well as national and international audiences: 20%
- Undertake training and professional development: 5%
- Train junior lab members, discuss and advise colleagues: 5%
- Education: PhD in biochemistry, chemistry, plant biology, or microbiology
- Essential skills include knowledge in chemistry and plant biochemistry, expertise in biochemistry and analytical chemistry, LC-MS, GC-MS, ICP skills, and more
- Ability to conduct innovative research with publishable outcomes, proven ability to collaborate with internal and external colleagues, and train colleagues and students
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills, good communicative and interpersonal skills
