Job Title: Director of Development and Major Gifts

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development and Major Gifts to join our team at the University of Waterloo. As a key member of our Advancement team, you will be responsible for leading and managing our major giving program, driving fundraising and sponsorship activities, and developing strategic plans to enhance our fundraising capability and success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve major giving goals and objectives
  • Lead and manage a team of development officers to achieve fundraising targets
  • Build and maintain relationships with major donors and prospects
  • Develop and implement donor recognition and stewardship programs
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the university to advance fundraising priorities and develop strategies to cultivate, solicit, and support donor involvement
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible fundraising experience with a proven track record of success
  • Experience in major gifts fundraising, donor relations, and strategic planning
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with donors, colleagues, and stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines
