Join Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a Radiological Technologist
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Radiological Technologist to become part of the Computed Tomography team. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality imaging services.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct computed tomography (CT) examinations and diagnostic/therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures, adhering to departmental protocols and ensuring safe radiation practices. Responsibilities include: managing and fulfilling requisitions, inputting relevant information into the Radiology information system, preparing examination trays and patients for specific procedures, administering radiopharmaceuticals, operating CT imaging and/or nuclear medicine apparatus, including data processing and archiving. Observe and monitor patients during procedures, ensuring equipment functionality and performing routine quality control tests on imaging devices. Utilize appropriate detection equipment to monitor areas and dispose of radioactive materials in accordance with established protocols.Qualifications
Education & Experience
Certification with the CAMRT (Nuclear Medicine). Completion of an accredited advanced specialty CT program and one (1) year of recent, relevant CT and nuclear medicine experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course, as required by site practice. Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).Knowledge & Skills
Proven understanding of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT and/or other relevant national professional associations. Familiarity with organizational policies, procedures, and standards of care, including safe work practices with applicable modality equipment. Demonstrated ability to perform radioisotope examinations in compliance with departmental standards. Knowledge of Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission Regulations. Understanding of current General Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, and CT theory and practices within a patient-centered care model. Proficiency in safe work procedures with radiology equipment. Knowledge of research processes and methodologies. Familiarity with PACS/Radiology Information Systems, digital imaging, image archiving, and retrieval. Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) to effectively interact with patients, families, coworkers, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others. Skill in planning and establishing workload priorities in collaboration with team members. Proficiency in CT/Nuclear Medicine techniques and the use of relevant equipment and supplies. Competence in CPR techniques. Ability to operate related equipment, including applicable software applications. Physical capability to perform the duties associated with the position.Additional Information
