Computed Tomography and Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Position OverviewVancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Radiological Technologist 3 to enhance our Computed Tomography team. This position offers a financial recruitment incentive of up to $15,000, subject to specific conditions.
Primary DutiesAs a Radiological Technologist 3, your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting computed tomography (CT) examinations and nuclear medicine procedures while adhering to departmental protocols and ensuring safe radiation practices.
- Completing necessary documentation, entering data into the Radiology information system, and preparing patients and examination trays for various procedures, including the handling of radiopharmaceuticals.
- Operating CT and nuclear medicine equipment, along with processing and archiving the collected data.
- Monitoring patient conditions during procedures and performing routine quality control checks on imaging devices.
- Utilizing detection equipment to monitor the area and disposing of radioactive materials in accordance with established safety guidelines.
Education & Experience:
- Certification from the CAMRT in Nuclear Medicine.
- Completion of an accredited advanced specialty CT program along with one year of relevant experience in CT and nuclear medicine, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course as per site requirements.
- Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
Knowledge & Skills:
- Thorough understanding of the standards and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners as set by the CAMRT and other relevant professional bodies.
- Familiarity with organizational policies, procedures, and standards of care, including safe operational practices with modality equipment.
- Capability to perform radioisotope examinations in line with departmental standards.
- Knowledge of Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission Regulations.
- Understanding of current practices in General Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, and CT within a patient-centered care framework.
- Expertise in safe operational procedures with radiology equipment.
- Familiarity with research methodologies.
- Proficiency in PACS/Radiology Information Systems, including digital imaging and data management.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Capacity to prioritize workloads in collaboration with team members.
- Skill in CT/Nuclear Medicine techniques and the operation of relevant equipment.
- Physical capability to fulfill the duties of the position.
