Join Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a Radiological Technologist
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Radiological Technologist to become part of the Computed Tomography team. This role involves working with advanced imaging technologies to provide high-quality diagnostic services.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct computed tomography (CT) examinations and nuclear medicine procedures while adhering to departmental protocols and ensuring safe radiation practices. Responsibilities include: processing and fulfilling requisitions, entering pertinent information into the Radiology information system, preparing examination trays and patients for specific imaging procedures, administering radiopharmaceuticals as necessary, operating CT and nuclear medicine equipment, including data processing and archiving. Monitor patients throughout procedures, ensuring equipment functionality and performing routine quality control tests on imaging devices. Utilize detection equipment to monitor areas and dispose of radioactive materials in accordance with established protocols.Qualifications
Education & Experience
Certification with the CAMRT in Nuclear Medicine. Completion of an accredited advanced specialty CT program and one (1) year of recent, relevant experience in CT and nuclear medicine, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course, as required by site practice. Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).Knowledge & Skills
Comprehensive understanding of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging professionals established by CAMRT and other relevant associations. Familiarity with organizational policies, procedures, and standards of care, including safe operational practices with imaging equipment. Proven ability to conduct radioisotope examinations in compliance with departmental standards. Knowledge of Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission Regulations. In-depth understanding of current General Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, and CT theory and practices within a patient-centered care model. Proficient in safe work procedures with radiology equipment. Knowledge of research methodologies and processes. Familiarity with PACS/Radiology Information Systems, digital imaging, and data archiving. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients, families, colleagues, and healthcare professionals. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others. Competence in planning and prioritizing workload in collaboration with team members. Skilled in CT/Nuclear Medicine techniques and proficient in using relevant equipment and supplies. Competent in CPR techniques. Ability to operate related equipment and applicable software applications. Physical capability to perform the duties associated with this position.Additional Information
