Unit Overview
The Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program (HRLMP) is a collaborative initiative supported by Hamilton Health Sciences and St. Joseph's Hospital. This program is dedicated to innovation and transformation through education, service, and research, aiming to integrate high-quality scientific practices into healthcare for community benefit and to engage in the clinical application and interpretation of scientific findings.Position Overview
The Medical Secretary is responsible for transcribing confidential medical documents and correspondence while also performing various administrative and reception tasks as required.Work Schedule
Monday to Friday; day and evening shifts.
Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Graduation from a Medical Secretarial program or relevant experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to laboratory medicine, including Anatomic Pathology, Forensic Pathology, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, Clinical Chemistry, and Microbiology.
- Typing proficiency with a minimum speed of 60 words per minute.
- Capability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Prior experience in medical transcription using a dictaphone.
- Familiarity with Meditech, MS Office, and Internet applications.
As a condition of employment, proof of full COVID-19 vaccination must be submitted to Employee Health Services.
