Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our team at Lakeridge Health. As a key member of our medical unit, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to a positive and supportive work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary family-centered care environment.
  • Provide personal patient care, vital signs, physical assessment, administration of medications, monitoring IVs, and setting up medical equipment as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse.
  • Diploma prepared Registered Practical Nurse or proof of upgraded equivalent skills.
  • Competent to perform CPR at a basic Cardiac Life Support level.
  • Current CPR/BCLS certificate.
  • Physical/Health Assessment course from a recognized institution or equivalent course.
  • Current employment experience in medical/surgical units (minimum 1 year).
  • Demonstrated skills in providing patient education and sharing knowledge of expected outcomes and care.
  • Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff, and the community.
  • Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound judgment.
  • Evidence of education in Neurology, Nephrology, Palliative Care, an asset.
  • Must have a satisfactory performance record.

  • Demonstrated pattern of good attendance and the ability to maintain that same standard.
