Position Summary:

The Mechanical-Structural Engineer is tasked with vital engineering responsibilities that support both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. This includes collaborating with production teams, designing mechanical systems and structures for aircraft maintenance and modifications, conducting structural analyses to facilitate design changes, and managing engineering projects as required by our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct technical investigations and provide engineering support for fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft as directed by clients.
  • Engage in liaison engineering duties and assist production teams in meeting project timelines.
  • Implement non-standard repairs and structural design modifications, ensuring thorough analysis to support maintenance and modification initiatives.
  • Design modifications for mechanical systems within aircraft.
  • Oversee engineering project management tasks related to modifications, alternative parts, or adjustments to maintenance protocols.
  • Lead or participate in aircraft modification design projects.
  • Compile detailed engineering reports to support aircraft modification and installation efforts.
  • Perform airworthiness assessments associated with design changes from repairs or modifications.
  • Prepare and review formal engineering reports and deliverables.
  • Mentor junior engineers and undertake additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering, or a Technologist Diploma in a related field.
  • Eligibility for registration with ENS or Tech Nova.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and MS Windows environments.
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational capabilities.
  • Familiarity with project management principles.
  • Experience with military or commercial aircraft, or equivalent engineering experience, is preferred.
  • Understanding of aircraft structures and systems.
  • Acquainted with engineering drawings and relevant military specifications, particularly in aviation.
  • Knowledge of structural repair standards for both metallic and composite materials.
  • Experience with drafting software such as AutoCAD or CATIA is advantageous.
  • Understanding of classical stress analysis.
  • Knowledge of fatigue analysis and damage tolerance assessments is a plus.
  • Experience with on-aircraft testing.
  • Ability to create and manage databases.
  • Familiarity with civil or military airworthiness and certification processes.
  • Experience can range from entry-level to over 20 years; compensation will be commensurate with experience.
  • Must meet the requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Canadian government security clearances.
