About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Assessment Engineer to join our team at PAL Aerospace. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for performing structural analysis, including static, dynamic, fatigue, and damage tolerance assessments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform structural analysis, including static, dynamic, fatigue, and damage tolerance assessments
  • Build Finite Element Models (FEMs) using CAD geometry, meshing, and running solutions
  • Develop and implement inspection programs based on fatigue and damage tolerance assessments
  • Sizing of structural components, parts, and assemblies from a static stress and fatigue point of view
  • Determination of fatigue allowable stress levels for sizing
  • Support the structural design process to ensure required quality for fatigue and damage tolerance is achieved
  • Prepare engineering and airworthiness documentation, including reports on engineering analysis and airworthiness compliance reports
  • Provide technical expertise in the area of structural strength to other engineering functions
Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years work experience in a technical engineering role supporting aircraft development, modifications, and/or repairs
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
  • Candidates with highly applicable experience (5 years) will be considered in lieu of engineering degree
  • Knowledge of airworthiness regulations and standards from Transport Canada, FAA, and/or EASA is preferred
  • Knowledge and direct experience in Design Approval Organization (DAO) activities is preferred
  • Experience with CAD software (Solidworks and AutoCAD software packages is preferred)
  • Experience and familiarity with aircraft structures and static stress analysis
  • Knowledge and experience in Finite Element Modelling Software packages (i.e., FEMAP/NASTRAN) and Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Software packages (i.e., NASGRO)
  • Excellent organization and time management skills to be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal communication, writing, and publication skills with strong attention to details
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills
