Position Overview:
The Fleet Operations Engineer plays a crucial role under the guidance of the CH149 Fleet Support Supervisor, focusing on engineering tasks that facilitate the transition to a post-Mid-Life Upgrade CH149 Cormorant fleet. This position also involves assessing and executing technical initiatives that support the Cormorant fleet within the CH149 Engineering Acceptable Technical Organization (ATO).

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist in the creation and evaluation of inspection packages for aircraft components, utilizing guidelines from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
  2. Review and compare aircraft maintenance programs and technical documentation.
  3. Identify and analyze options to resolve issues related to configuration discrepancies across various aircraft fleets and technical enhancements.
  4. Implement and oversee corrective actions regarding Service Difficulty Reporting, Special Inspections, Service Bulletins, and Airworthiness Directives.
  5. Monitor Flight Safety Occurrences and manage them through ATO processes.
  6. Support the CH149 Aircraft Flight Manual Working Group as necessary.
  7. Provide analytical support and business cases for modifications and ATO initiatives.
  8. Coordinate technical guidance delivery to Main Operating Bases (MOB) regarding modifications.
  9. Track design alterations on CH149 aircraft stemming from OEM Product Improvement Leaflets, Change Collectors, and Service Bulletins, ensuring fleet compliance and closure.
  10. Facilitate effective communication and act as a liaison on technical issues with representatives from MOBs, Department of National Defense, aircraft and component OEMs, and Design Authorities.
  11. Promote initiatives aimed at enhancing processes and improving efficiencies within the maintenance program.
  12. Prepare and review repair designs, analyses, and other modifications as required.
  13. Draft engineering reports, technical memoranda, and directives.
  14. Support configuration management and data management activities within the department.
  15. Perform airworthiness functions as a recognized Design Engineer or Design Technologist when authorized.
  16. Undertake additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
  1. B.Eng. or B.Sc. (Eng.), or CET (Diploma in Engineering Technology), or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  2. Desirable eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer or CET.
  3. Two or more years of engineering experience is preferred.
  4. Familiarity with rotary wing aircraft structures and mechanical systems is advantageous.
  5. Understanding of airworthiness regulations and military aircraft modification processes is beneficial.
  6. Experience in an aircraft engineering environment is a plus.
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  8. Strong project management capabilities.
  9. Interpersonal skills to work effectively with individuals at all organizational levels and external agencies.
  10. Self-discipline and the ability to work independently when necessary.
  11. Ability to logically process information and identify related factors, while effectively prioritizing multiple tasks.
  12. Eligibility to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Secret Level II Security Clearance, and Transport Canada RAIC clearance.
