Position Overview: The Indigenous Relations Coordinator will play a vital role in supporting the Indigenous Relations Team across various sectors of Aecon's construction operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the execution of Aecon's Indigenous Relations Strategy.
  • Facilitate the development of community relations and partnership initiatives with Indigenous enterprises.
  • Collaborate with different functional groups to synchronize procurement, employment, and training opportunities for projects.
  • Act as a bridge between project teams and Indigenous partners to enhance project commitments and communications.
  • Support the implementation of Indigenous awareness and recognition programs.
  • Oversee administrative tasks related to Indigenous Participation Plans and their associated reporting.
  • Engage in relationship-building activities, including conferences and offsite events, to foster productive connections with Indigenous communities.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in Indigenous engagement, research, or consulting, along with a strong understanding of Indigenous culture, governance systems, and history.
  • Knowledge of an Indigenous language is considered an asset.
  • Experience in general project communications and community engagement is advantageous.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Willingness to travel to project sites or Indigenous communities and flexibility in work scheduling is essential.
  • Strong business writing skills are crucial.
