St. Mary's University is seeking a dedicated individual to join our student services team as an Indigenous Relations and Initiatives Coordinator. This role is pivotal in guiding and advancing the university's Indigenous programs and initiatives, fostering a vibrant and engaged community for students, faculty, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive Indigenous engagement strategy in collaboration with essential community stakeholders and advisory councils.
2. Serve as the primary liaison for external partners, including prospective Indigenous students, educational institutions, Indigenous communities, and advocacy organizations.
3. Facilitate and promote reconciliation education within the university community and engage in community outreach initiatives.
4. Represent the university at various internal and external events, ensuring active participation and visibility.
5. Contribute to committees focused on strategic enrollment, equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigenous advisory matters.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Strong connections to the Indigenous community, including relationships with Elders and Traditional Knowledge Keepers.
- Previous experience in a post-secondary educational environment is advantageous.
- Commitment to promoting equity, diversity, inclusion, and the principles of Truth and Reconciliation.
