Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Community Relations Manager to join our team at AltaGas. As a key member of our External Affairs department, you will be responsible for building and sustaining positive relationships with regional stakeholders, Indigenous Groups, community leaders, and other community members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective community engagement strategies to promote AltaGas' reputation and interests in British Columbia.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous communities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure their needs and concerns are addressed.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on Indigenous Relations Program development and implementation to ensure sustainable and responsible business results.
  • Coordinate volunteer activities and corporate social responsibility programs to enhance AltaGas' reputation and community relationships.
  • Monitor and report on community issues that could impact AltaGas' operations and business.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key government and industry contacts to advance AltaGas' interests.
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to senior management on community relations and Indigenous affairs.
  • Collaborate with facility operations and project teams to understand existing and new development opportunities and develop Indigenous participation plans.
  • Prepare reports and briefing notes for senior management to provide direction, guidance, and support on community relations and Indigenous affairs.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in government, industry, policy, media relations, public relations, or stakeholder and Indigenous relations.
  • Experience with/knowledge of regulatory requirements governing the development and operation of AltaGas' activities in the areas of geographical assignment.
  • Excellent communication skills (active listening, public speaking, verbal, written) and ability to interface with internal and external parties.
  • Experience in and familiarity with the energy sector.
  • Proficient use of MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Publisher, Word).
  • Ability to work independently in an entrepreneurial environment, as well as ability to work as part of a team.
  • Eligible to lobby at both Provincial and Federal levels in Canada.
  • Bachelor's Degree in policy, law, public relations, marketing, communications, or journalism or the equivalent.
