Automation Systems Engineer

The Dennis Group, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Automation Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems for our clients' food and beverage processing facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Design and Implement Control Systems: Develop and implement control systems utilizing PLCs for integration of manufacturing systems.
- Automate Manufacturing Processes: Automate manufacturing processes through the use of instrumentation or controls systems.
- Network Infrastructure Design: Design, diagnose, and troubleshoot network infrastructures - Ethernet, DeviceNet, AS-i, Profibus etc.
- PLC Applications Development: Develop new PLC applications, interfaces, or embedded controls.
- Facility Setup and Commissioning: Develop new or modify existing set-up and commissioning of new facilities or upgrading of existing facilities.
- Control Panel Design: Design, specify, wire, and procure control panel equipment, e.g. safety circuits, I/O, networks, etc.
- Electrical Equipment Design: Design, specify, and procure electrical equipment, e.g.
- Device Development: Develop functional descriptions and analysis documents for devices.
- Control Panel Placement: Understand size and placement of control/electrical panels.
- Hardware and Field Instrumentation: Specify, procure, configure, and troubleshoot controls hardware and field instrumentation.
- Interdisciplinary Coordination: Assist with coordinating with other engineering disciplines.
- Troubleshooting and Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve malfunctions and make recommendations that will improve efficiency or quality of operations.
- Commissioning and Start-up: Create commissioning and start-up checklist.
- Client Technical Contact: Project primary client technical contact.
- Bid Documentation: Develop bid documentation for Electrical, Automation, and Low Voltage (network, security) vendors.
- Installation Management: Interface and manage installation contractors during construction.
- Research and Development: Research Automation & Controls materials and best practices.
- Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: 8-11 years of experience in Visual Basic, SQL, MS ACCESS Database programming skills a plus.
- Process Network Infrastructure: 8-11 years of experience with Design and implement process network infrastructure (Ethernet, Device Net, Control Net, ProfiBus, etc.).
- Industrial Manufacturing: 8-11 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing setting.
- Database Programming: Database programming skills a plus.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency with MS Office and AutoCAD Required.
- Travel Requirement: Must meet travel requirement - you will spend significant time in our client's facilities during installation and startup/commissioning/qualification phases of a project – 35% to 50% of any given time of the year.
