About this Role
We are seeking a talented and ambitious engineer to join our engineering team. As a Building Automation Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for designing energy management and control systems for commercial and institutional buildings. Your role will involve integrating the control of various heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and mechanical equipment under a central monitoring and control system, the Building Automation System (BAS).
Key Responsibilities
- Designing energy management and control systems for commercial and institutional buildings;
- Integrating the control of various HVAC and mechanical equipment under a central monitoring and control system;
- Creating shop-drawings, including control schematics, wiring diagrams, schedules, bill of materials lists, and sequence of operations;
- Reviewing project documentation, including specifications, mechanical and electrical drawings, to identify any equipment compatibility issues and design discrepancies;
- Communicating with engineering consultants to clarify and approve design recommendations;
- Selecting materials, including DDC modules, field sensing and control devices, dampers, valves, and actuators, to meet project requirements and specifications;
- Writing sequence of operations based on HVAC principles and building codes;
- Coordinating design requirements with the project manager and field team to provide a cost-effective design solution;
- Managing material procurement and requesting quotations;
- Assisting the sales team in pre-bid meetings and evaluating tender drawings;
- Proposing energy-saving opportunities to clients;
- Conducting site visits and collaborating with clients and contractors on technical issues;
- Developing commissioning checklists for the field team;
- Issuing Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Manuals for supplied systems, equipment, and devices.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a College Diploma in Building Automation Systems, Electrical, Controls and Automation, or HVAC;
- 1+ years of experience with HVAC and/or BAS protocols, including BACnet/MSTP, BACnet/IP, Modbus;
- 1+ years of experience with networking infrastructure;
- 1+ years of experience with DDC systems and applications;
- 1+ years of experience with CAD tools, preferably Visio or similar CAD tools;
- 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Suite at a proficient level.
Preferred Qualifications
- Programming experience in Build Automation System;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
