Position Overview

The Integrated Biomedical Engineering & Health Sciences Program (iBioMed) at McMaster University is looking for a dedicated and proactive Teaching Assistant Intern (TAI) to support the educational journey of students in the foundational course.

Role Responsibilities

The TAI will leverage both technical and educational expertise to enhance the learning experience for students. Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and refining course materials to ensure clarity and relevance.
  • Testing and validating educational tools and equipment.
  • Delivering engaging lab and tutorial sessions.
  • Leading and mentoring a team of teaching assistants.
  • Supporting students in their transition from high school to university through guidance and mentorship.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the iBioMed Program while developing essential skills in engineering and health sciences, including design, computer-aided design (CAD), and teamwork.

Key Duties Include:

  • Collaborating with instructors to develop comprehensive course materials.
  • Validating student projects through hands-on prototyping.

  • Providing support to students via online forums and office hours.
  • Guiding student teams through problem-solving processes.
  • Coordinating project-related tasks and managing teaching assistant schedules.
  • Maintaining the online course management system.
  • Staying updated with new technologies relevant to the course.
  • Ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Engineering at McMaster University or an equivalent institution.
  • Completion of relevant engineering courses.
  • Minimum GPA requirement, with significant experience considered.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and programming languages is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated interest in the biomedical sector is preferred.
