Position Overview

The Integrated Biomedical Engineering & Health Sciences Program at McMaster University is in search of a dedicated and proactive Instructional Assistant Intern to support the educational experience in the foundational course of the program.

Role Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and refinement of course materials for lectures, labs, and tutorials.
  • Evaluate and validate tools and equipment used in course delivery.
  • Facilitate learning by instructing students in both lab and tutorial settings.
  • Lead and mentor a team of teaching assistants, fostering a collaborative educational environment.
  • Support students in their transition from high school to university by serving as a mentor and role model.

Key Duties

  • Collaborate with course instructors to create and finalize educational materials.
  • Guide students through hands-on projects, providing constructive feedback throughout the design process.

  • Maintain the online course management system, ensuring all materials are up-to-date and accessible.
  • Stay informed about advancements in technology and educational practices relevant to the course.

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Engineering at McMaster University or an equivalent institution.
  • Completion of foundational engineering courses is preferred.
  • A minimum GPA requirement is in place, with relevant experience considered.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and programming languages is advantageous.
  • A demonstrated interest in the biomedical sector is beneficial.
