Teaching Assistant Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support the Indigenous Studies Department at McMaster University. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with faculty members and students to deliver high-quality educational experiences.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the development and delivery of course materials, including lectures, tutorials, and laboratory sessions.
- Lead tutorials and oversee laboratory sessions, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Prepare and deliver lectures, presentations, and other instructional materials as required.
- Provide individualized support to students, including office hours and email correspondence.
- Grade assignments and exams, and provide feedback to students.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of departmental policies and procedures.
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Indigenous Studies or a related field.
- Previous experience in teaching or tutoring, preferably in an Indigenous Studies context.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students and faculty members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other educational technologies.
- Previous experience working with Indigenous communities or organizations.
- Fluency in an Indigenous language.
- Knowledge of Indigenous cultural protocols and practices.
