About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our team at NL Health Services. As a Clinical Psychologist III, you will be responsible for providing advanced professional, administrative, and clinical leadership/supervisory psychology work within the Mental Health and Addictions Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical psychology services to clients and families utilizing the Acute Care Service, primarily at the HSC Psychiatry Unit, but may be required to work at the Waterford Hospital based on operational requirements.
  • Conduct clinical assessments, including diagnostic, cognitive, personality, and psychopathology assessments, as well as short-term and group therapy.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures, including Risk Management, Quality Improvement, and workload issues, and participate in committee work.
  • Supervise the maintenance of professional standards and professional development, provide professional specialized supervision to provisionally registered Psychologists and practicum/internship students, and provide a clinical advisory role to full working level Psychologists.
  • Participate in research activities, apply for operating grants, and publish research work.
Requirements
  • Graduation with an approved/recognized Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology.
  • Registration or provisional registration with Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board.
  • Graduate course work and supervised experience in psychological assessment, including cognitive and diagnostic assessment with adults.
  • Graduate course work and supervised experience in evidence-based therapy with individuals and groups, with a specific focus on mental health issues.
  • Previous experience supervising Doctoral level residents is preferred.
  • Strong communication, program development, and evaluation skills.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to engage others and develop coalitions.
  • Ability to provide strong and comprehensive clinical support, training, and mentorship to Clinical Psychologists II's and other supervisees.
  • Strong analytical, critical reasoning, collaboration, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively translate and communicate knowledge in the specialized area of psychology practice to others.
  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritizing caseloads and client needs.
  • Strong awareness of ethical principles and standards of professional conduct.
