QUALIFICATIONS
- Current CPR and Basic First Aid certification.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination, including TB Screening Test or chest X-ray, as mandated by agency policies. Must be free from any signs of infection or illness.
- Proven ability to perform personal care tasks competently prior to engaging in patient care.
- Physical capability to walk, bend, stoop, and lift objects as required for job duties.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to read, write legibly, spell accurately, perform basic math, and understand service plans.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists clients with daily living activities, including bathing, grooming, skin care, and oral hygiene.
- Supports clients with mobility, including transfers in and out of bed and assistance with walking.
- Facilitates prescribed exercises as instructed by qualified health professionals.
- Helps prepare meals, accommodating special dietary needs, and assists clients during mealtime.
- Provides assistance with toileting needs, including the use of commodes, bedpans, or urinals.
- Administers medications that clients are capable of self-administering.
- Performs additional tasks as directed by healthcare professionals, such as monitoring vital signs and providing non-sterile hygiene care.
- Observes client activities and dietary intake, reporting any changes in condition to the Respite Care Manager.
- Maintains accurate records of services rendered and time logs.
- Completes all assigned personal care tasks diligently.
- Engages in basic household tasks essential for maintaining a healthy living environment, including the proper disposal of waste and light cleaning duties.
- Accompanies clients to medical appointments and assists with daily living activities as needed.
- Adheres to HIPAA regulations, ensuring confidentiality of client and agency information.
- Utilizes client care equipment and supplies safely and effectively.
- Complies with all agency policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates familiarity with Title 22 regulations.
- Ensures a comfortable work environment for all staff members.
- Follows guidelines outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Keeps all required certifications current.
- Reports any instances of fraud or abuse.
- Understands the principles of mandated reporting.
- Records and documents all client interactions in a timely manner.
- Participates in departmental meetings, whether in person, by phone, or online.
- Completes all state-mandated in-service training sessions.
