This full-time faculty position at Mohawk College is a pivotal role within the College Student Success Innovation Centre (CSSIC). The successful candidate will report to the Senior Director of Academic Initiatives and CSSIC and will focus on:
- Leading and facilitating ongoing research and development projects
- Exploring new research avenues aimed at enhancing student success, with a focus on both quantitative and qualitative data analysis
The individual will play a crucial role in the design, execution, analysis, and dissemination of research, emphasizing categorical and quantitative data, statistical reporting, and contributions to peer-reviewed publications. Proficiency in analyzing data through quantitative (e.g., descriptive statistics, inferential analyses, advanced modeling techniques) and qualitative (e.g., thematic analysis, content analysis, grounded theory) methodologies is essential. This position demands a dynamic individual capable of managing a variety of tasks and meeting multiple deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will contribute to research and development initiatives, which may include:
- Identifying and designing research studies, utilizing existing institutional and public datasets.
- Gathering evidence to support best practices in student success through literature reviews and environmental scans.
- Seeking research funding to support ongoing and new projects.
- Determining suitable research methodologies to address specific questions and developing data collection tools (e.g., surveys, interview scripts).
- Conducting research involving human participants, including preparing applications for Research Ethics Board (REB) approval.
- Overseeing the collection, cleaning, structuring, and analysis of various data types, including statistical analysis.
- Staying current with advancements in research methods and statistical analysis techniques.
- Collaborating with student research partners in line with the students as partners (SaP) model.
- Interpreting research findings and generating actionable insights for institutional decision-making.
- Disseminating knowledge to diverse audiences through various formats (e.g., peer-reviewed articles, conference presentations, technical reports).
- Supporting CSSIC initiatives and applying evidence-based insights to enhance student success outcomes.
- Facilitating workshops and professional development opportunities to build institutional capacity.
- Collaborating with internal and external partners across academic and student services.
Qualifications:
Education:
- A PhD in Education, Sociology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Experience:
- Designing, implementing, and evaluating educational research.
- Writing successful grant proposals for research funding.
- Utilizing quantitative and qualitative research methodologies for data analysis.
- Proficiency with statistical analysis tools such as SPSS, SAS, R, and NVivo.
- Communicating research findings to diverse audiences.
- Publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at conferences.
- Experience in curriculum development at the postsecondary level is advantageous.
- Facilitating training for faculty and staff is a plus.
- Collaborating with students as partners is beneficial.
