ABOUT THE ROLELocated at the Detour Lake Mine site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Process Plant Maintenance Millwright to become a part of our Process Plant Maintenance team, reporting directly to the Process Plant Mechanical Supervisor.
Detour Lake stands as Canada's largest gold-producing mine, boasting the most extensive gold reserves and significant growth potential. The open-pit mine is situated in northeastern Ontario, approximately 300 kilometers northeast of Timmins and 185 kilometers by road northeast of Cochrane, within the northernmost Abitibi Greenstone Belt. This operation has a projected mine life of around 22 years, with an average annual gold production of 659,000 ounces.
The Process Plant Maintenance Millwright will be tasked with executing mechanical maintenance duties to meet production goals safely and efficiently within the Process Plant sectors at the Detour Lake Mine.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESYour responsibilities will encompass:
- Completing designated work orders with adequate detail for colleagues to acknowledge task completion and/or equipment concerns;
- Providing mechanical expertise and utilizing advanced analytical and troubleshooting skills to assist operations, maintenance, and technical staff in identifying and resolving daily equipment issues;
- Conducting repairs on process plant piping;
- Safely operating specific mobile equipment units, including small mobile cranes, man lifts, and forklifts;
- Assisting in the commissioning of new installations and modifications;
- Evaluating maintenance procedures and proposing enhancements for improved effectiveness;
- Identifying, developing, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives;
- Reporting safety concerns to the supervisor for prompt resolution;
- Engaging in activities that contribute to achieving 'World Class' safety performance, where safety is embraced by all;
- Fostering a positive health, safety, and environmental culture along with the Internal Responsibility System.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Ontario provincial or inter-provincial (Red Seal) millwright trade certification or equivalent;
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an industrial or mining environment;
- Additional welding certification with the ability to interpret blueprints is advantageous;
- Experience with computer-based maintenance systems, particularly SAP, and familiarity with SAG/Ball mills and cone and gyratory crushers is a plus;
- A demonstrated commitment to safe working practices;
- Experience in remote work site environments is beneficial.
