POSITION OVERVIEWWe are currently seeking a Process Plant Maintenance Millwright to join our Process Plant Maintenance team. This role reports directly to the Process Plant Mechanical Supervisor.
Detour Lake is recognized as Canada's largest gold-producing mine, boasting significant reserves and growth potential. The open-pit mine is situated in northeastern Ontario, within the northernmost Abitibi Greenstone Belt, and has a projected mine life of approximately 22 years with an average annual gold production of 659,000 ounces.
The Process Plant Maintenance Millwright will be tasked with executing mechanical maintenance duties to meet production goals safely and efficiently within the Process Plant areas.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESYour primary responsibilities will include:
- Completing specific work orders with detailed documentation for team acknowledgment of work completion and equipment issues;
- Providing mechanical expertise and utilizing advanced analytical and troubleshooting skills to assist operations and maintenance personnel in resolving daily equipment challenges;
- Executing repairs on process plant piping;
- Safely operating mobile equipment such as small cranes, man lifts, and forklifts;
- Assisting in the commissioning of new installations and modifications;
- Evaluating maintenance procedures and recommending enhancements for improved effectiveness;
- Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives;
- Reporting safety concerns to the supervisor for prompt resolution;
- Participating in initiatives that contribute to achieving 'World Class' safety performance, fostering a culture where safety is a shared responsibility;
- Promoting a positive health, safety, and environmental culture.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- An Ontario provincial or inter-provincial (Red Seal) millwright trade certificate or equivalent;
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an industrial or mining environment;
- Additional welding certification and the ability to interpret blueprints are advantageous;
- Experience with computer-based maintenance systems, particularly SAP, and familiarity with SAG/Ball mills and cone and gyratory crushers is a plus;
- A demonstrated commitment to safe working practices;
- Experience in remote work settings is beneficial.
