West Fraser is seeking a skilled Millwright to join our team in Cochrane, Alberta. As a Millwright, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and safety of our sawmill operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily troubleshooting and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance
  • Repair and maintain conveyors, belt and chain transfer systems, sawing, debarking, sorting, stacking, and compressors
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during assembly, installation, set-up, and repair
  • Work in man-lifts with fall protection equipment
  • Repair and maintain hydraulic systems, pumps, valves, and cylinders
  • Collaborate with other trades and employees to achieve team goals

Requirements:

  • Commitment to working safely and creating a safe workplace
  • Sawmill experience is an asset
  • Valid Inter-Provincial or Provincial Journeyperson Millwright certification or Millwrighting Apprentice preparing to enroll in their 4th year
  • Mechanical aptitude and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights and weekends
