Job Summary:

Brightshores is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for promoting health and providing care to medical patients in a supportive, preventative, therapeutic, palliative, and rehabilitative manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and provide care to medical patients to attain or maintain optimal function.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of patients.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families to promote health and wellness.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Physical Assessment course.
  • CC1 or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of medical experience within the last five years.
  • Oncology and palliative care nursing experience within the last two years.
  • Experience in administration of chemotherapy drugs and management of side effects.
  • Venipunctures to establish an IV required.
  • IV medications below the drip chamber.
  • Central line care – including tubing, dressing change, line removal, and blood sampling.
  • Maintenance of TPN.
  • Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing population and patient needs.
  • Leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interviewing and patient assessment skills.
  • Interest and experience in patient education and health promotion.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education.
  • Participation in staff meetings and unit-specific projects.
  • Availability to work all shifts, including weekends.
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to Brightshores' CARE Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and LEAD Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others).
  • Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills, and attitudes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate Degree in nursing.
  • BCLS certification.
  • Additional education pertaining to palliative care and oncology.
  • Broad medical experience preferred.
  • Oncology Certificate.
