Job Summary

The **Controls Engineering Team Lead** will be responsible for leading a team of Controls Engineers in the design and development of automated assembly systems. This role requires a strong technical background in electrical, mechanical, or software controls technology, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Controls Engineers in the design and development of automated assembly systems.
  • Collaborate with the Applications Engineering team to support proposals and own jobs won from concept to through-life support.
  • Work with other members of the project team to develop a controls architecture that meets the customer's requirements.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of tools, methods, and modules to ensure standards are maintained.
  • Work with other teams to continuously improve methods and tools for integrating controls technology.
  • Ensure that cost and schedule budgets are adhered to or improved upon.
  • Assign tasks to team members and ensure that all work products meet the required standards.
  • Approve material requisitions and maintain labour, material, and schedule forecast information.
  • Ensure that scheduled milestones are achieved.
  • Provide technical assessments of team members for performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with Controls Managers to set goals and manage successful performance for team members.
  • Lead and mentor team members.
  • Review and evaluate new controls-related products to provide a cost-effective and up-to-date controls solution.
  • Work with team members, customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to solve problems.
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of and follow Health and Safety procedures.
  • Ensure that all employees receive job-specific training.

Qualifications

  • A post-secondary diploma, degree, or equivalent qualification in electrical, mechanical, or software controls technology.
  • Demonstrated experience in an industrial development environment, producing controls for automated assembly systems.
  • Proven leadership qualities, including good oral and written communication skills, ability to work with and motivate team members, and a willingness to take responsibility for key aspects needed for job completion.
