Job Summary

The New Sandhu and Company Ltd. is seeking a skilled Long Haul Truck Driver to join our team. As a key member of our logistics operations, you will be responsible for safely transporting goods across the country.

Key Responsibilities
  • Route Planning and Execution

Plan and adjust routes to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions, utilizing computer equipment, GPS systems, and other navigation devices.

Loading and Unloading

Load and unload goods with precision and care, ensuring timely delivery and minimizing damage.

Vehicle Maintenance

Oversee the condition of the vehicle, inspecting tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Pre-Trip and Post-Trip Inspections

Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, documenting any issues or concerns.

Communication and Record-Keeping

Communicate effectively with dispatchers, passengers, and other drivers using two-way radio systems, and maintain accurate records of cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption.

Requirements
  • Certifications and Licenses

Air Brakes Endorsement and a valid Driver's License (Class 1 or A) are required.

Documentation and Knowledge

Familiarity with inspection reports, trip reports, and other documentation is essential.

Transportation Experience

Long-haul trucking experience is necessary, with a willingness to travel cross-border, extended periods, and overnight.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

Ability to handle heavy loads, work in a fast-paced environment, and sit for extended periods.

Personal Suitability

Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, judgment, organization, reliability, teamwork, hard work, patience, and a strong work ethic are required.

Work Environment

This is an on-the-road job with a permanent work term, requiring 35 to 40 hours of work per week. English is the primary language of communication.
