Role Responsibilities
As a Sports Coordinator, you will collaborate with a team dedicated to supporting Community Partners who manage City lands and facilities to deliver sports programming to the residents of Calgary. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting a portfolio of Community Partner Sport Organizations to ensure they provide effective services to the community. This includes liaising with them to connect with City services and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and agreements.
  • Facilitating the implementation of the Sport for Life Policy.
  • Providing governance support, including board orientation, strategic planning facilitation, bylaw consultation, and operational policy development for recreation and sport partners.
  • Creating and maintaining project documentation, communication, and reports.
  • Serving as a liaison and resource for other staff within the Business Unit.
  • Representing Recreation and Sport Partnerships on various committees and initiatives.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with recreation and sport partners and City business units to ensure long-term success.
  • Developing, interpreting, and promoting resources to support recreation and sport partners while sharing information with City business units.
Qualifications
  • A degree in Sport Administration, Sport Science, Recreation Administration, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in recreation, sports, or non-profit management, including policy implementation and project management.
  • Experience consulting with non-profit organizations and a solid understanding of trends and issues in recreation and sports will be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with policies related to sport development at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels will be beneficial.
  • Demonstrated experience in dynamic environments is a plus.
  • Strong skills in group leadership and organizational awareness.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with partners at various levels.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional organizational abilities and attention to detail.
