About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Scheduling Coordinator to join our team at BC Children's Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for scheduling patient appointments, managing patient records, and providing exceptional customer service to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scheduling Patient Appointments: Utilize our computerized scheduling system to schedule and book patient appointments, including follow-up appointments and complex interdisciplinary appointments.
  • Registration and Data Entry: Receive and register patients, ensuring accurate and complete demographic information is entered into our system.
  • Referral Management: Perform referral functions, including gathering additional information, data entry, and processing related paperwork.
  • Clerical Duties: Perform receptionist and other clerical duties, including answering phones, responding to inquiries, and maintaining patient records.
  • Chart Maintenance: Assemble and maintain client charts, utilizing appropriate forms and layout in accordance with established procedures.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records, including data entry, collating information, and maintaining log sheets and patient statistics.
Requirements
  • Education: Grade 12, plus two (2) years' recent experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Skills: Ability to keyboard 45 w.p.m., knowledge of medical terminology, effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Commitment: Commitment to developing knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments, including Truth & Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action and United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
