About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Registration Booking Clerk to join our team at BC Cancer. As a key member of our administrative staff, you will be responsible for scheduling and booking patient appointments, processing referrals, and maintaining accurate patient records.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and book patient appointments using a computerized scheduling system, ensuring accurate and timely communication with patients and clinicians.
- Register patients upon arrival, ensuring accurate and complete demographic information and following up with patients as necessary.
- Perform referral functions, including data entry, paperwork processing, and scheduling new referrals based on established criteria.
- Provide exceptional customer service, responding to inquiries and requests for information, and greeting patients and families in a professional and welcoming manner.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including data entry, chart assembly, and filing documentation.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and efficient clinic operations.
Requirements
- Grade 12 and two years of recent experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to keyboard 45 wpm and knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
