Are you passionate about providing exceptional nursing care? We are looking for a committed Registered Nurse who is eager to deliver empathetic patient support at Northern Health Authority.

In alignment with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives of Northern Health, the Nurse operates in accordance with the professional practice standards and ethical guidelines set forth by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Under the general oversight of the Program Lead or designated supervisor, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary care team, the Nurse will deliver direct care to individuals facing addictions, mental health challenges, and/or complex behavioral issues.

Through thorough assessments, intervention planning, ongoing monitoring, and both individual and group therapy, the Nurse contributes to effective patient management, including those awaiting further evaluation and assisting with patient admissions and transfers to ensure timely service delivery.


Work Schedule: Rotating shifts including Days and Nights, from 07:00 to 19:00 and 19:00 to 07:00.

International Applicants:

Qualifications

  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN or RPN registrant.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of recent experience in an acute mental health environment or equivalent experience in related fields.
Skills and Competencies:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in operating relevant medical equipment.
  • Strong clinical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Capacity to build and maintain productive relationships with healthcare team members and clients/families.
  • Ability to collaborate with other care providers to enhance problem-solving across agencies and departments.
  • Proficient in managing interactions with individuals in crisis.
  • Extensive knowledge of mental health and addiction assessments, psychopharmacology, counseling principles, crisis intervention, and relevant legislation.
  • Physical capability to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Commitment to delivering safe and competent patient care.
  • Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems.
  • Proactive approach to resolving issues affecting care quality and continuity.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks based on risk factors.
