In alignment with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives of Northern Health, the Nurse operates in accordance with the professional practice standards and ethical guidelines as defined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Under the general oversight of the Program Lead or their delegate, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary care team, the Nurse will deliver direct care to individuals facing addictions, mental health challenges, and/or complex behavioral issues.Through thorough assessments, intervention planning, monitoring, individual and group therapy, and consultation, the Nurse contributes to and aids in the efficient patient flow for those assessed and awaiting further evaluation, as well as assists with patient admissions and transfers to ensure timely access to services and bed allocation.
Work Schedule: Rotating shifts including Days, Nights, 07:00 to 19:00, and 19:00 to 07:00.

Qualifications
- Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN or RPN.
- A minimum of one (1) year of recent experience in an acute mental health setting or equivalent experience in related fields.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in operating relevant medical equipment.
- Strong clinical and critical thinking abilities.
- Capacity to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Collaborative approach to problem-solving with other care providers.
- Ability to manage interactions with individuals in crisis.
- Comprehensive knowledge of mental health and addiction assessments, crisis intervention, and relevant legislation.
- Physical capability to fulfill job responsibilities.
- Commitment to delivering safe and competent patient care.
- Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.
- Self-sufficient work ethic with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems.
- Proactive in addressing issues affecting care quality.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
