Job Title: Building Attendant

Job Summary:

The City of Kitchener is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Building Attendant to maintain the cleanliness and organization of our facilities. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our employees and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and disinfect all areas of the building, including sinks, countertops, urinals, toilets, walls, showers, and touchpoints.
  • Polish stainless steel surfaces and clean floors using various equipment.
  • Dust furniture, shelves, and other surfaces.
  • Empty garbage, composting, and recycling receptacles.
  • Restock paper towels and toilet dispensers.
  • Wipe down lockers and respond to spills throughout the day.
  • Sweep and damp mop stairwells.
  • Report damage or vandalism to the supervisor or facilities office.
  • Order supplies and restock shelves.
  • Assist with rental set-ups and take-downs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Equivalent to partial secondary school education and 3 months of experience in a custodial field.
  • Willingness to work various shifts to accommodate work schedules or special projects.
  • Knowledge of proper floor care and cleaning techniques.
  • Demonstrated custodial experience.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS for the safe use and clean-up of hazardous materials.
  • Valid MTO driver's license and acceptable driving record may be required.
  • Reliability and a good attitude are essential.
