We are currently in search of a Purchasing Agent Co-op to enhance our operations.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Purchasing Agent serves as a vital link between our project teams and Multiplex's reliable suppliers, ensuring the timely provision of materials, equipment, services, and products essential for project execution. This role necessitates collaboration with our project teams to assess and anticipate project requirements, ensuring that deliveries are made on a Just-in-Time basis. Success in this role hinges on effective and prompt communication with both our project teams and supplier partners, as well as managing inbound and outbound logistics. Engaging in cross-functional discussions with various departments, including safety, legal, marketing, communications, and finance, will be crucial. This position operates under the supervision of the Procurement Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process requisitions from multiple project sites and generate purchase orders while liaising with the appropriate suppliers.
  • Support Buyers with inquiries regarding products or suitable suppliers.
  • Conduct a three-way match of Requisition, Purchase Order, and Packing Slip; collaborate with the Accounts Payable team to facilitate invoice processing.
  • Assist in maintaining the rental tracker for all tools and equipment utilized on-site.
  • Help with the input and monitoring of inventory at both the head office and project sites.
  • Contact vendors to obtain budgetary pricing based on directives from the Procurement Manager.
  • Document and escalate any supplier performance concerns to the Procurement Manager.
  • Aid in the entry of unit rate data for various Division 1 items across different cost codes.
  • Provide general assistance in processing orders.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree/diploma program in Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, Purchasing, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of direct experience in a purchasing or procurement role, particularly focused on construction materials and rentals.
  • On-site construction management experience is highly preferred.
