We are currently seeking a Purchasing Agent Co-op to support our operations.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Purchasing Agent plays a vital role in connecting our project teams with Multiplex's reliable suppliers, ensuring the timely provision of materials, equipment, services, and products essential for project execution. This role involves collaborating with site teams to assess project requirements, ensuring that orders are delivered precisely when needed. Success in this position hinges on effective and prompt communication with both our site teams and supplier partners, as well as managing inbound and outbound shipments. Engaging in cross-functional discussions with various departments, including safety, legal, marketing, communications, and finance, will be crucial. This position operates under the supervision of the Procurement Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process requisitions from various sites and generate purchase orders while coordinating with the appropriate suppliers.
  • Provide assistance to Buyers with inquiries regarding products or suitable suppliers.
  • Conduct a three-point match involving Requisition, Purchase Order, and Packing Slip; collaborate with the Accounts Payable team to facilitate invoice processing.
  • Contribute to the rental tracker for all tools and equipment utilized on-site.
  • Aid in monitoring and managing inventory at both the head office and project sites.
  • Contact vendors to obtain budgetary pricing based on directives from the Procurement Manager.
  • Document and escalate any supplier performance issues to the Procurement Manager.
  • Assist with data entry for unit rates related to various Division 1 items across different cost codes.
  • Provide general support in processing orders.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, Purchasing, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of direct experience in a purchasing or procurement role, particularly focused on construction consumables and rentals.
  • On-site construction management experience is highly preferred.
