We are currently seeking a:

Mechanical Construction Supervisor

The Mechanical Construction Supervisor is responsible for executing self-performed mechanical projects in accordance with plans and specifications, ensuring timely and budget-conscious completion in collaboration with the Project Manager and Site Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Ensuring adherence to Occupational Health and Safety regulations, policies, and procedures in daily operations.
  • Reviewing and continuously monitoring Job Safety Analysis (JSA's) prepared by foremen to guarantee compliance with safety requirements.
  • Facilitating effective communication and collaboration among the Mechanical Division, Formwork Crews, Electrical Subcontractors, Site Superintendent, and Project Manager.
  • Maintaining open lines of communication with Owners, Architects, Suppliers, and Consultants.
  • Overseeing the work of Kenaidan Mechanical Crews and subcontractors on-site.
  • Providing timely and constructive feedback to crews regarding performance.
  • Ensuring the quality of mechanical work executed.
  • Keeping accurate records of cost codes and being familiar with current and projected costs, verifying and auditing site expenses against the budget.
  • Identifying and addressing potential design and construction issues.
  • Collaborating with the Project Manager and Mechanical Estimating team to develop and maintain the overall project schedule for Mechanical work, ensuring alignment with the Site Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Creating a three-week work schedule and assisting mechanical subcontractors in planning their tasks while providing necessary guidance.
  • Coordinating equipment and manpower to meet scheduling requirements.
  • Assisting the Project Manager with monthly billing and trade billing inputs.
  • Reviewing and approving time sheets, purchase orders, and work authorizations.
  • Identifying potential additional work with the Project Manager and tracking as necessary.
  • Participating in regular trade and safety meetings, ensuring minutes are recorded, posted, and distributed.
  • Maintaining a daily job site diary.
  • Providing weekly labor cost reports.
  • Monitoring and ensuring the availability of as-built drawings.
  • Actively managing the punch list and ensuring completion.
  • Assisting in the development of site logistics, including site access and laydown areas, providing adequate temporary facilities, enforcing site housekeeping, and managing dewatering and slope control as needed.
  • Conducting ongoing reviews of Contract Drawings to identify discrepancies across various disciplines.
  • Reviewing and approving process pipe and spool drawings.

Qualifications:

  • 10 to 15 years of experience in construction, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • College Diploma or relevant trade certification.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and provide leadership to staff and subcontractors.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with scheduling software, plumbing codes, and estimating is advantageous.
  • High level of technical knowledge related to the construction industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively engage with crews, trades, and suppliers.
  • Strong organizational capabilities.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation as it pertains to the construction sector.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and trade contractor scopes.
